Celebrity Health Activists Join The Fight Against Monsanto

When consumer advocate Erin Brockovich takes a position on a health issue you can bet that the matter is serious and that lives are at risk

Monday, December 10, 2018 - Celebrity consumer safety advocate Erin Brockovich is concerned about the health ramifications of "Glyphosate," the active ingredient in Monsanto's Roundup herbicide, which is suspected of causing a variety of illnesses, not the least of which is cancer. A jury in California recently agreed with a plaintiff that alleged that glyphosate is carcinogenic when used as directed for industrial purposes and awarded a local groundskeeper $78 million for developing non-Hodgkins lymphoma, a rare and deadly form of cancer. Johnson's skin came into direct contact with glyphosate weedkiller regularly while spraying the grounds to kill weeds. Brockovich, in an article, published the other day in The Guardian, is worried that glyphosate is so widely and extensively used that cancer-causing bioaccumulation could be happening in humans without our knowledge. Roundup cancer lawyers represent persons harmed by Monsanto Roundup.

Brockovich correctly identifies several major categories of glyphosate weedkiller and then breaks the food category up into its elements. According to the Guardian, "glyphosate is the main ingredient in more than 750 products, including the most widely deployed herbicide in the world, Monsanto's Roundup. For more than a generation, Americans have been using Roundup and other glyphosate-based chemicals to improve agricultural yields, manage forests, ripen fruit and kill the dandelions sprouting from our front lawns."

Glyphosate weedkiller has been used unabated for the last 30-plus years. The amount of the chemical sprayed by farmers around the world has been increasing at least 10-fold every decade. Our current generation is the first to be subjected to massive quantities of glyphosate. Monsanto and environmental agencies such as the US EPA are using the population as literal guinea pigs and have no clue as to glyphosate's potential for long-term harm.

The usage of glyphosate in industrial-level farming is so pervasive that it is impossible to escape ingesting the chemical. Brockovich has found that "Almonds, carrots, quinoa, soy products, vegetable oil, corn and corn oil, canola seeds used in canola oil, beets and beet sugar, sweet potatoes," all have unacceptably high levels of glyphosate. Unsafe levels of glyphosate have also been found in many packaged foods. The Environmental Working Group found that "Cheerios, Quaker Old Fashioned Oats and at least 29 other popular breakfast foods contained what the EWG considers unsafe quantities of the herbicide."

Celebrity and internet physician Dr. Joseph Mercola has identified glyphosate as a Monsanto-patented antibiotic. At the very least, high levels of glyphosate mean we are ingesting an unsafe level of antibiotics which Dr. Mercola thinks is causing an increase in antibiotic resistance. Dr. Mercola wrote that "Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup herbicide, was shown to increase antibiotic resistance in E. coli and salmonella. Roundup also causes disturbances to a soil fungus called Aspergillus nidulans; the disturbances occurred at the cellular level after exposure to glyphosate doses far below the recommended agricultural application rate and without causing any visible effects" Researchers at the Massachusettes Institute of Technology (MIT) are also studying glyphosate and link the rise in the usage of glyphosate antibiotic to such serious epidemics as autism and obesity.
