Lawsuits Aim To Draw Attention To Monsanto's Deadly Herbicide, Roundup Ready

Hundreds of people with deadly cancer, non-Hodgkins lymphoma are suing Monsanto for compensatory and punitive damages

Monday, July 24, 2017 - Corn, soybeans, potatoes, wheat, oats and other staple crops are being showered daily in a deadly cancer-causing chemical after having been genetically modified to be resistant to the deadly, cancer-causing herbicide glyphosate found in Roundup Ready, manufactured and distributed by Monsanto. Approximately one pound of Roundup Ready herbicide is sprayed on every acre of crops world wide and the sales of glyphosate produce billions of dollars in revenue to Monsanto every year. Because this plant contamination has been going on without the public's knowledge since the early 1970's, almost every human being now has traces or indeed, concentrations of cancer-causing glyphosate somewhere in their bodies. In addition to the crops humans eat, Roundup Ready is sprayed on the feed that is given to the vast majority of pigs, chickens, and beef raised by US farmers. These animals have a lifetime concentration of glyphosate in their flesh, meat that makes it to our dinner tables in America every day. It is estimated that a pound of meat could have over 2000 times the amount of glyphosate in it as do the crops a human or animal eats.

It is no wonder that the number of cancer deaths attributable to using or otherwise ingesting Monsanto's Roundup Ready glyphosate is on the rise and the number of people choosing to sue Monsanto for compensatory and punitive damages is skyrocketing as well. Lawsuits are being filed for those currently suffering from deadly cancer non-Hodgkins lymphoma, as well as by the surviving loved ones of those who have died as a result of Monsanto's negligence, fraud, and misrepresentation. Plaintiffs allege that Monsanto failed to warn the public of the cancer risk that the product poses, a risk that was reinforced on July 7, 2017, when the State of California added Monsanto's Roundup Ready glyphosate to the list of deadly chemicals that cause cancer and birth abnormalities. Plaintiffs claim that marketing the product without the appropriate warning labels is a violation of the Consumer Fraud Act. Also, the loved ones and the estates of those who have died are filing wrongful death lawsuits against Monsanto, suing for reimbursement of medical expense, lost wages, pain and suffering, and punitive damages against the company.

It is the hope that punitive damages will be awarded ten-fold over compensatory damages in multi-million dollar jury verdicts against Monsanto that will help to draw attention to Monsanto's deadly Roundup Ready poison, and alert the public as to the cancer risks of continuing to use Roundup by farmers, government maintenance workers, home lawn maintenance, gardeners, and landscapers.
